Wartime recipes
This is our collection of vegan British wartime era recipes dating back to the 1940s where rationing, food shortages, and making do was essential. Ingredients like eggs, dairy, and meat were often in short supply, which led to the creation of resourceful recipes that were naturally egg-less, dairy-less, and meat-less.
While these dishes were born out of necessity, they've stood the test of time and can be very useful for today's frugal veggie cooks!
We have plans to add more vintage wartime recipes from other countries such as Canada, Australia and America, so do pop back for another root around our virtual recipe box!
